Statement on Anti-Semitism

Pilkington Park Labour Branch unequivocally supports the following statement by Bury Labour

STATEMENT BY BURY LABOUR

Bury Labour unequivocally condemns anti-Semitism in all its forms.

To deny the current existence of anti-Semitism in the party is to deny the experience of Jewish members. We want to reassure the Jewish community that the Bury Labour Group understand that antisemitism is racism. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community to tackle this abhorrent form of prejudice.

Under our leadership Bury Council became one the first Local Authorities to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism designed to strengthen it.

We support efforts taken by the Labour Party nationally to deal robustly and decisively with the anti-Semitism that clearly exists within pockets of the Party.

We will continue to work with the Jewish Labour Movement to ensure a zero-tolerance approach to tackle anti-Semitism within the Party.
